Careerspace Career + Experience Expo connects students with employers in their field of interest

Hundreds of students had the opportunity to connect directly with employers in the health sciences and wellness sector at the first virtual session of the Career + Experience Expo series hosted by Careerspace at Trent.

The health sciences and wellness session saw employers engaging directly with Trent students as they explored opportunities with more than 40 organizations.

Fourth-year Sociology and Business joint major, Jada Grant (Champlain College), joined the event to explore opportunities to work in health and wellness with the goal of applying what she has learned at Trent to make a difference in the world.

"In speaking with several employers, who gave me on-the-spot interviews, it really opened my eyes to what was out there for me,” said Jada. “Because of the Expo, I now have direct contact with hiring managers and links to several jobs that I’m going to apply for."

Careerspace collaborates with businesses and the community to bring events and opportunities to students throughout the year, ensuring that Trent students are receiving the most fulfilling experience possible in preparation for their careers.

"Our team's ultimate goal is to connect highly skilled and talented Trent students with employers who offer fulfilling job and career opportunities," said Kevin Whitmore, director of Careerspace. "The number of students who attended this year's expo shows that there is a lot of excitement around health and wellness and a desire to fill those roles."

Careerspace looks forward to welcoming hundreds more students and employers to three future expo dates throughout the month of February. The next three sessions will centre around Community and Public Services (February 3), Business and Technology (February 9), and Natural Resources and Environment (February 17).

Students or employers looking to learn more about the Career + Experience Expo and how to participate can visit the expo website.
