2025 United Way Workplace Campaign Exceeds Goal Raising $124,847
Annual campaign builds on six decades of strong community collaboration and support for local programs and services
Trent University and United Way Peterborough & District are celebrating a major milestone as the 2025 Trent United Way Workplace Campaign raised $124,847, surpassing the $100,000 goal and supporting meaningful programs and services across the region.
“The generosity shown by Trent’s employees, retirees and unions in donating to the United Way is truly admirable. I am grateful for their commitment to strengthening our community by supporting individuals and families who need a helping hand,” said Julie Davis, vice-president of External Relations and Development.
This year’s campaign carries special significance as the two organizations mark 60 years of partnership. Since the mid-1960s, the Trent community has supported United Way through long-standing traditions such as the kickoff barbecue, chili cookoff, and employee-led white elephant table, along with ongoing payroll deductions that provide steady support to United Way-funded agencies.
“It’s always heartwarming to see our community show up for one another, but what I find especially touching is when we can do so with our friends and colleagues at Trent for 60 years in a row. Sixty years!” said Jim Russell, CEO of United Way Peterborough & District. “Each year, our partners at Trent have shown up and approached their campaign with the utmost attention and energy. Our team looks forward to building on this remarkable partnership for decades to come.”
As United Way Peterborough works toward an ambitious $1.6 million goal, Trent’s contribution helps bring the organization within just 4 percent of achieving its target.
Trent University, which has supported the United Way since 1965, remains the largest workplace partner for United Way Peterborough & District. The organization funds more than 20 local agencies across Peterborough City and County, creating significant, lasting change.
