Automatic, Renewable Entrance Scholarships
All international undergraduate students applying to Trent are automatically assessed for Trent University’s International Entrance Scholarships, which range in value from $2,500 to $5,500. Entrance scholarships are renewable each year when you reapply and maintain a minimum 80% average in a full course load during the previous academic year.

Entrance Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for an automatic International Entrance Scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student paying international fees.
- Be studying in Canada on a study permit.
- Have applied to an undergraduate degree program at Trent University. Postgraduate certificates and graduate-level students are not eligible.
- Meet Trent’s admission requirements, including general and degree-specific requirements and English Language Proficiency Requirements.
- Have a final Canadian equivalent high school average of 80% or higher.
- Fulfill the conditions of your offer letter, register for courses and pay Fall and Winter term course fees for your first undergraduate year.

When will I receive my entrance scholarship?
Students will receive the entrance scholarship amount directly in their Trent Applicant Portal account statement close to the beginning of their first academic term.
Please note that all scholarship values, eligibility requirements, and criteria are subject to change. International Entrance Scholarships can be paired with Trent International’s Renewable Prestigious Scholarships.

Renewable Prestigious Scholarships and Awards
Trent International Prestigious Scholarships and Awards are awarded to entering international students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership potential, and some financial need.
These awards are highly competitive and fund tuition and mandatory ancillary fees at Trent in amounts up to $15,000 per academic year, and up to $60,000 over a 4-year degree.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a renewable International Prestigious Scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student paying international fees.
- Be studying in Canada on a study permit.
- Have applied to an undergraduate degree program at Trent University. Postgraduate certificates and graduate-level students are not eligible.
- Start your program in the spring/summer (May/June) or fall (September) terms. Students starting in the winter term (January) are not eligible for International Prestigious Scholarships.
- Meet our admission requirements, including general and degree-specific requirements and English Language Proficiency Requirements.

- Fulfill the conditions of your offer letter, register for courses and pay Fall and Winter term course fees for your first undergraduate year.
- Apply for Prestigious Scholarships and Awards through the Trent Applicant Portal.

How to apply
You must apply for International Prestigious Scholarships to qualify. One application ensures you will be considered for all international prestigious scholarships that you meet the eligibility criteria for.
When applications open, the application form can be found on your Trent Applicant Portal located under the Finances tab > International.

Application Deadlines
Applications for International Prestigious Scholarships open in the summer and close on February 15 each year.
All applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on or before the application deadline to be considered. All students will receive funds in line with their start date if their application is successful.
All applications received by the deadline are evaluated equally.

Moore Family International Scholarship
This scholarship partially funds the cost of Trent education in amounts up to $12,000 annually and is renewable up to $48,000 over a four-year degree.
The Moore Family International Scholarship offers renewable funding for three students from outside of North America based on outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership potential, and some financial need. This scholarship was established through a generous donation by long-time Trent supporters David and Joan Moore.

Justin Chiu International Scholarship
This scholarship partially funds the costs of Trent education in amounts up to $15,000 per academic year, and is renewable up to $60,000 over a 4-year degree.
The Justin Chiu International Scholarship is awarded to entering international students from Asia who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership potential, and some financial need. This scholarship was established by Justin Chiu, who benefited from the Trent experience as an international student.

Daniel Powell Scholarship
The Daniel Powell Scholarship is renewable and is awarded to Latin American students entering Trent University who are intending to major in Global Development Studies. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, financial need, and community or volunteer service.
If there are no students who qualify in the Global Development Studies program, the scholarship may be awarded to Latin American students entering Trent in any program.
This renewable scholarship reflects Professor Daniel Powell's passion for international development and teaching. It is also tied to his love for Latin America and its people, as he felt very close to their struggles and aspirations.

IB Student Award
This award grants up to $1,000 annually to one international student entering Trent with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma who has the highest grade admission average among all eligible applicants.
This is a one-time award that is not renewable over the course of your degree.
All International Prestigious Scholarships are applied to the student's Trent Applicant Portal account statement one week after the first day of classes of the applicable semester.

Winter 2027
Students eligible for an International Entrance Scholarship starting in Winter 2027 will receive the first installment (50%) in Winter 2027. The second and final installment for that academic year will be applied in Fall 2027.
Students starting in Winter 2027 are not eligible for International Prestigious Scholarships.

Students eligible for an International Entrance Scholarship or prestigious scholarship starting in Summer 2027 will receive the first installment (50%) in Fall 2027. The second and final installment for that academic year will be applied in Winter 2028.
