Moving Out

Trent University residence will be closed over the winter break period beginning 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2025.

As the December examination period and winter closure quickly approach, we're sharing the following information to help ensure your exam period & winter break is successful.

Exam Period Quiet Hours & Guests

As a courtesy to all community members preparing for the end of term, 23-hour quiet hours will be in effect starting Wednesday, December 3 at 11:00 P.M. and throughout the exam period. Additionally, standard courtesy hours are in effect between 8:00 P.M.- 9:00 P.M. daily throughout this period.  All other times are considered quiet hours.

Please be considerate of your roommates and neighbours during this busy time. Should you have a concern regarding noise, please contact the Residence Life Don On-Duty for your building or let the Service Centre know.

As stated in your Residence Agreement, guests who do not hold a current Residence Agreement are not permitted in residence during 23-hour quiet hours.

Exam Housing Service Centre Desk Hours

During the exam period, the Service Centre Desks will be operating during the following hours:

  • Service Centre East (Gzowski) – Monday to Sunday: 8:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M.

  • Service Centre West (Lady Eaton) – Monday to Sunday: 8:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M.

Dining Hall Hours During the Exam Period

Dining Hall hours and menus for the exam period will be posted on the Trent Food Services Website.

Food Service operations are closed during the Winter Break; however, campus card partners will be open. Please ensure you check with the card partner for their winter break hours.

Residence Closing

In alignment with the Residence Agreement and to ensure an appropriate academic environment for students completing the semester, students must move out of residence 24 hours after their final exam, or by 11:00 A.M on December 19, 2025 whichever date and time comes first. If you do not have any final exams, your move out date is Friday, December 5, 2025, at 4:00 P.M.

Move Out Procedures (Fall only students)

Please ensure the following move out procedures are adhered to:

  • Clean your room of all garbage and recycling and personal items. Your room must be clean and your furniture returned to its original configuration.

  • If you rented a fridge from Coldex, they will be at Trent to pick up fridges after residence has closed. Avoid extra costs by making sure your fridge is in the same condition when you rented it and unplugged prior to your departure.

  • Ensure your window is closed, lights are off, and door is locked.

  • Drop off your keys and fob (room, suite key if applicable & mail key) at the Housing Service Centre or at an After Hours Drop Box

  1. For more information about Moving Out, Damages Process, and Mail please visit our website.

Residence Stay Extensions

Safe Travels

If you choose to travel for the winter break, we ask that you be extra vigilant. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
