Late Arrivals
If you are not planning on moving into residence on May 2, 2023, you are welcome to arrive any weekday (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. You can proceed to the Student Housing Office (Peterborough) or Service Centre (Durham) to pick up your keys.
If you are arriving outside of the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, please let us know via email to residence@trentu.ca and we can discuss your options with you.
For students currently living in residence:
If you are a student currently living in residence, you will stay in your current residence space until summer residence move-in day on May 2. On this day you can follow the move-in instructions here to change rooms for the summer.
Room Changes
After inspections of our summer residence areas during our move-out process in April, Student Housing may be required to reassign you to a new room. If you are receiving a new room assignment, you will be notified via email to your Trent email address (or the address you used to apply on our application).
Costs
Total costs for Summer 2023 residence can be found on the Housing Website. Students will see a charge for Summer residence appear on their account statement and the entire balance must be paid. If you arrive late or leave early, you will then be credited funds to your Student Account on a pro-rated basis for the number of days you did not live in your room.
Cancelling and Moving Out
If you are no longer interested in summer residence, you must cancel your residence application. To cancel you must log into your residence application in the Housing Portal, select application status and then cancel application. Check out our step-by-step guide.
If you decide to move out of summer residence, please follow the cancellation process above, pack up and move out your things, and then return your keys to the Student Housing Office at Blackburn Hall Suite 129, the Blackburn Drop Box outside the front entrance, or Durham Service Centre or drop box.
Further information about August move-out will be sent at a later day. Please note that summer residence move-out is August 2. Please begin planning in advance as to your next steps after summer residence and reach out to us if you have any questions.
Packing
We know there is a lot to think about as you prepare for the move. Here are a few of the items that we suggest be on every students’ “What to Bring to Residence” packing list.
Food
The campus cafeterias, except for Otonabee College cafeteria (Peterborough), are closed for the summer term. As such, students will be responsible for preparing their own food in the kitchen space provided in your residence community.
Starbucks and 76 Sips (Peterborough) will be open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Otonabee College Cafeteria will be open 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Maintenance
Due to a shortened turnaround time and an increase in late stays, our maintenance staff may not be able to address all identified issues prior to move-in. As such, technicians may be entering your unit to complete the work. They will be entering on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. These entries may continue until May 15.
If you experience a maintenance issue while staying with us, please submit a maintenance request by logging in to your Housing Portal and selecting the “Maintenance Request” tab. If you have any issues accessing this, please email residence@trentu.ca.
