MOVE IN DAY - September 2022

Move In Day, the day you’ve been waiting for, is almost here.

We are excited to welcome you to residence and to the Trent University community.

Here’s what to expect from (and how to plan for) this fun and exciting day.

Move In Dates & Timeslots

In order to safely accommodate over 1,800 students moving into residence Student Housing has extended the move-in period over two days, from Saturday, September 3 through Sunday, September 4. Each student has been assigned to a timeslot to help us manage a safe and orderly welcome to the University.

Move-in time slots have a duration of two hours before the next group of students arrives, so please plan to arrive within two hours of the time indicated via email.

To help us ensure the appropriate number of people on campus, we ask that students plan to arrive and be moved in during their assigned timeslot and that those assisting students with moving depart within three hours of moving in.

If you are unable to arrive during your scheduled move-in time slot, please contact Student Housing at residence@trentu.ca before you arrive on campus and we will work with you to accommodate your needs.

Packing

We know there is a lot to think about as you prepare for the move. Here are a few of the items that we suggest be on every students’ “What to Bring to Residence” packing list.

Arriving & Checking In

When you arrive on campus follow our helpful signage to your key pick-up location. You will find friendly and helpful students and staff waiting to welcome you, provide you with your keys, and answer any questions you might have about the move-in process. To keep things flowing, we ask that you please stay in your car when you arrive at the key station and one of our staff will assist you.

In order to check in, you will need your Residence Check-In QR Code. This will be sent to you in a separate email from residence@trentu.ca closer to the move-in weekend.  Please prepare to have this QR code printed or pulled up on your phone when you arrive.

Once you’ve checked in, the directional maps and coloured signs will guide you through the rest of the way.

Move In Support

To support your move, we will have some large carts available for pick up and return to central locations outside of each residence. You may wish to bring a cart or dolly with you to assist with moving in.

Parking

Once you have unloaded your car, please move your car to a nearby parking lot to allow others access to move in. Parking will be complimentary throughout the move-in period each day. Permits, available for purchase through Parking Services, are required for parking on campus outside of the move-in period. Additional information on parking is available on the Parking Services website.

Students arriving from outside Canada

To ease your arrival to campus from outside of Canada, please consult our Trent Safe Arrival Protocol. The protocol is updated as travel restrictions and quarantine requirements are updated by the Government of Canada.

Complete Your Housing Application

In order to avoid delays during move-in day, please ensure you have completed all steps visible to your in your application (accessible via the Student Housing Portal in myTrent). This includes accepting your room offer as well as digitally signing the 2022-23 Residence Agreement. Failure to complete your application will result in your Move-in QR Code not being sent and will prevent you from checking in on Move-in day until it is completed.

Please also ensure that you have uploaded a photo for your TrentU Card via the MyTrent portal (Under the "Services" tab select "TrentU Card Photo Submission). Your TrentU Card is required to access your residence room and we require your photo to have this card ready for you on move-in day.

COVID-19

The University will be emailing residence students separately with all the information they need to know about COVID-19 precautions in residence. Please keep your eye on your Trentu email for further information.

Staying up to date

For Housing updates, please continue to monitor your Trent student email over the course of the summer and after your arrival to residence to stay up to date on any new information or notices. You can also contact us by email at residence@trentu.ca?or by phone at 705-748-1097.

Questions?

If you have any questions related to the foregoing information, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone at 705-748-1097 or by email at residence@trentu.ca.
