As an international student, there are many factors beyond academics that contribute to a successful graduate student experience. As you begin your academic journey as an international graduate student in Canada at Trent University, please review the essential information and resources below.
Pre-Arrival Information
Required documentation varies by country. Please visit Trent International and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)’s webpages for details regarding study permits, visas and other required documentation.
- Admission Letter with Letter of Acceptance
- Study Permit
- Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization, depending on nationality
- Valid Passport
The Letter of Acceptance must be used to apply for your study permit as it was specifically designed for Canadian immigration officials.
TIP! Apply for your study permit as soon as you receive your admission letter.
Depending on which country you are coming from, it can take over three months to complete all immigration procedures. We highly recommend that you don’t depart for Canada until your application for a study permit has been approved.
Visit Trent’s International student orientation webpage for a list of pre-arrival information sessions or book an appointment with an international student advisor through the Student Experience Portal.
