What is Environmental Chemistry?

Learn to understand the big picture of diverse environments by examining their smallest components. Your studies in Environmental Chemistry will introduce you to contemporary approaches to quantifying contaminants, along with the sources of chemicals, their cycles, and the impact they have on organisms and ecosystems in the environment.

"Trent values diversity and promotes research across borders, offering a unique combination of three key ingredients fundamental to successful research programs: outstanding collegial environment, motivated students, and world-class facilities. At Trent we aspire to climb the ladder of success but also endure to leave the ladder down so others can follow." Associate Professor and winner of the Golden Globe in Science and Technology, Dr Huy Dang

"Creating a sustainable environment requires the fostering of a world-changing   mindset. As students, we need the resources to understand the world around us and opportunities to unleash our potential. Making the world a better place stems from a community that teaches compassion and lives their vision for the future. Trent University is a place where contagious passion from faculty and advanced knowledge in chemistry and environmental science courses seeded in me a mindset that my abilities can help mitigate the worst effects of climate change and increase the quality of life globally. Classes provided by the Trent School of the Environment encourage exploration into global problems, allowing students to utilize our skills and passions to identify areas of research to find our purpose." Lance Dostie, Environmental Chemistry graduate, 2024
