Bob Gauvreau ’01 – CEO in Residence 2023-24

Bob Gauvreau ’01 Inspires, Mentors Next Generation of Business Leaders

During his time as the 2023-24 Trent School of Business CEO in Residence, financial expert Bob Gauvreau ’01 (Lady Eaton College) inspired and mentored students, staff, faculty, and alumni across both the Peterborough and Durham GTA campuses.

During his lectures, Q&A sessions, classroom visits, panel discussions, podcasts, receptions, and mentorship activities, the founder and CEO of an award-winning accounting firm and best-selling author encouraged all to follow their dreams, pursue careers that align with personal values, and reinvest back into the community for “the power of good.”

Gauvreau is CEO of Gauvreau Accounting Tax Law Advisory - one of Canada’s fastest growing businesses (as recognized by The Globe and Mail and Financial Times). He is also author of The Wealthy Entrepreneur, creator of the mastermind coaching program The Million Dollar Year, and frequently cited in major business journals.

“Trent University has been foundational to my success, and it has been an honour to return to this world-class institution to inspire and mentor the next generation of business leaders,” he says.

In Fall 2023, Gauvreau focused on the Peterborough Campus including leading the panel discussion ‘You’re the CEO of You’ when he joined Trent School of Business faculty to discuss leadership, values, and overcoming failure.

On his Wealthy Entrepreneur podcast, Gauvreau showcased Trent School of Business faculty by featuring Business professor Dr. Ken Chen (‘Resourcefulness for Small Businesses’) as well as Gzowski College Principal Melanie Buddle (‘Unleashing the Potential of the Next Leaders’).

During the winter term, Gauvreau led programming at the Trent Durham campus – including classroom visits and an ‘In the Hot Seat’ Q&A session with students – before ending his residency in mid-March by supporting Trent Business students through a Leadership micro credential program at Gzowski College.

As a proud Trent alum, Gauvreau has stayed connected with the University over the years by providing co-op placements to students, supporting Trent’s annual Career Fair, hiring Trent alumni as permanent employees, and championing University initiatives such as Trent Day. In recognition of his accomplishments, the Trent University Alumni Association awarded Gauvreau with the Young Alumni Leadership Award in 2017.

Robert is an award-winning FCPA who works exclusively with entrepreneurs to help them make more money and gain financial clarity in their businesses. As a financial expert and author, Robert shares his insight and wisdom as a public speaker, is often cited in major business journals related to money, finances, and entrepreneurship, and works directly with more than 500 businesses across North America, helping them build a better business and generate greater financial performance.

Bob challenges the status quo within the accounting industry. Unsatisfied with the limitations of conventional accounting, Bob turned down leadership opportunities with a global accounting firm for a life of entrepreneurship. His passion for helping entrepreneurs gain financial clarity and generate greater financial results in business led him to trade customary for creative, establishing a new and innovative firm concept.

The firm he founded in 2008, Gauvreau Accounting Tax Law Advisory, is now one of Canada’s Fastest Growing Businesses as recognized by The Globe and Mail, Maclean‘s and Financial Times. In just the last two years alone, the global pandemic has created an unprecedented demand for strategic financial advice. Bob’s dedication to helping entrepreneurs has led to the expansion of his business advisory services to include his best-selling book The Wealthy Entrepreneur, his mastermind coaching program the Million Dollar Year Peak Performance Program, and his virtual event The Ascent Summit.
