COURSE DESCRIPTION The Additional Qualifications course, Religious Education Part 1, is designed to prepare Catholic educators to serve as faith leaders in their classrooms and school communities. Rooted in the mission of Catholic education, this course equips teachers with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to integrate faith into all aspects of teaching and learning. Participants will explore how to create inclusive, faith-filled environments that foster spiritual growth, moral development, and academic excellence. Through a balance of theory and practice, the course examines key dimensions of Catholic education, including Scripture and its application in the classroom, Catholic Social Teachings and the call to justice, and the role of prayer, sacrament, and spiritual leadership in building faith communities. Candidates will deepen their own understanding of the Catholic faith while developing practical strategies to engage students in meaningful experiences of prayer, service, and Gospel living. Learning experiences will include reflective exercises, collaborative discussions, and the design of classroom activities that bring faith to life. By the end of the course, educators will be equipped to model discipleship, nurture a sense of belonging, and inspire students to live out their faith in action. This course emphasizes ongoing professional growth and the vocation of Catholic teaching as a ministry of hope, compassion, and leadership. | PREREQUISITES (as required by OCT)
