Renovations
Renovations and repairs to Trent’s buildings are on-going. Each year, students are hired to help our painters repaint. As needed, worn out finishes are replaced. The SO supports Facilities in helping to source paint and materials that reduce the environmental impact of these renovations. Trent uses products such as paints that are Ecologo Certified, electrical and plumbing fixtures that are more efficient, carpets made from recycled and low VOC materials and flooring made from natural materials.
Next time you are walking around campus, you might notice some of these features.
- A flooring product called Marmoleum in the Blackburn Hall foyer, on the first floor of Wallis Hall, second floor of the Athletics Complex and throughout the Bata Library. This product is made from wood flour, cork flour, rosin, linseed oil, limestone, jute and pigments that contain no heavy metals.
- All campus lights have been replaced with highly efficient LEDs.
- Carpet in OC residence, Blackburn Hall offices, DNA and the Student Centre have all been selected using sustainability criteria.
- EcoLogo Certified paint is applied across campus, and you will notice if you see any Facilities Services Staff painting on campus there is little to no odour –nicer for our staff and you!
