Scholarships, Awards & Bursaries

Full Tuition & Scholarships Up to $30,000

At Trent, we believe in rewarding academic excellence and making transformative educational experiences financially accessible for all. Read on to learn more about scholarships, bursaries, and other financial assistance available for Trent students.

Scholarships

Trent's robust and diverse scholarship offerings are designed to foster and reward academic excellence. Scholarships are merit-based financial awards, typically awarded based on academic excellence or a combination of academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Scholarships are used towards the payment of tuition and fees. No repayment required.

  • Entrance Scholarships - If you’re a top scholar with an average of 80% or higher, you qualify to automatically receive an entrance scholarship to Trent. Scholars with 95% or higher? You earn free first-year tuition – no application required.
  • Prestigious Scholarships - Receive up to $30,000 as a recipient of one of Trent’s prestigious scholarships – and you only have to fill out a single application to be considered for all.
  • In-Course Scholarships - Not eligible for a renewable entrance scholarship? Undergraduate students who achieve 85% or higher in each year they are at Trent are automatically eligible for an in-course scholarship.
  • External Scholarships - Trent students are also eligible for many scholarships provided by external organizations. Explore your options and apply directly.

Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded each term to students with demonstrated financial need and are designed to supplement funding from other sources. Eligible students must be in receipt of OSAP, Canada part-time student loans, First Nations band funding, or receiving support from the government financial aid program of their home province.

  • Entrance Bursaries - Available to students entering Trent as new students and valued between $500 and $5,000.
  • In-course Bursaries - Awarded each term to students with demonstrated financial need. Applications must be completed at the beginning of each academic term.
  • External Bursaries - Trent students are eligible to apply to a variety of bursaries administered or delivered by external organizations.
  • Bursary for Youth in Care - Students who have been or are in extended society care are eligible to receive $3,000 in bursary funding during a single academic year.

A Note for Undergraduate Students Applying for OSAP

All undergraduate In-course, Entrance, and Renewable scholarships awarded by Trent University will be reported to OSAP. Please do not include this information when applying for OSAP as it will be reported twice and may reduce your overall funding amount. If you have reported your scholarship to OSAP in error, please let the Financial Aid office know by completing an OSAP Change of Information form on the myTrent portal.
