Prestigious Scholarships

Receive up to $30,000 as a recipient of one of Trent’s prestigious scholarships. Canadian students entering your first year at Trent with an average of 80% or higher are eligible to apply – and you only have to fill out a single application. 

 

Champlain Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to entering students of exceptionally high academic achievement and promise. Scholarship Value: $7,500 per year; maximum potential $30,000 - Two Available Each Year

 

Board of Governor’s Leadership Scholarship

Awarded to an entering student who has shown outstanding leadership and involvement in their community, as well as academic achievement. Scholarship Value: $7,500 per year; maximum potential $30,000 - One Available Each Year

 

Special Admission Scholarship

Awarded to entering students of outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievement. Scholarship Value: $4,500 per year; maximum potential $18,000 - 10 Available Each Year

 

Canada Wide Science Fair Scholarship

Awarded to an entering student of outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievement who is a recipient of a medal or an honourable mention for a senior-level project at a Canada-Wide Science Fair within the past two calendar years. Scholarship Value: $4,500 per year; maximum potential $18,000 - 1 Available Each Year

 

The Michael Treadwell Scholarship

Awarded every four years to one entering student of exceptional high achievement and promise intending to major in the humanities. Scholarship Value: $4,500 per year; maximum potential $18,000 – Two Available in 2025/26

 

How to Apply 

One single application will make you eligible for all prestigious scholarships at Trent. The application form becomes available each November and can be found on your myTrent applicant portal under the Finances tab. Application Deadline:  February 28

Eligibility Requirements  

  • Canadian student entering their first year at Trent with a final admission average of 80% or higher  
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program. 

Additional Details

  • Prestigious scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study provided you maintain a minimum 80% average in a full course load during the previous academic year.  
  • Students are eligible for only one major Trent University entrance scholarship 
  • If you received an offer for a national renewable entrance scholarship, and you have been selected for a prestigious scholarship, the national renewable scholarship will be replaced by the higher value prestigious scholarship. 
  • Special Admission, Science Fair, and Michael Treadwell scholarship recipients, with a final admissions average of 95% or greater, will receive Full Tuition in their first year of study at Trent University.  The current value of the Full Tuition scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year is $6,118.
  • Students with a final entrance average of 80% or higher who did not apply or are not awarded a prestigious scholarship will automatically be considered for Trent’s National Renewable Entrance Scholarships, valued between $1,500 and $4,000 per year.
