My Research: I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Co-Primary Investigator of the Rural Aging Research Program. I am a past Director of the Trent Centre on Aging & Society and was the founding Director of the MA in Interdisciplinary Aging Studies graduate program. My research is collaborative, interdisciplinary, and community-based, focusing on rural aging, intergenerational connections, aging in place, sustainable rural age-friendly communities programs, and housing alternatives for older adults. I created a novel Intergenerational Psychology of Aging course, which will run again in Winter, 2028 (in PSYC 3550H). I was honoured to receive the inaugural Trent Research Impact Award in 2021, recognizing my collaborative, community-based research.

My Teaching: The main courses I teach are Adult Development and Aging (PSYC 3550H, which I teach as an intergenerational course), Qualitative Research Methods (PSYC 4120H and 5120H), and Professional Practice in Knowledge Mobilization (AGNG 5003). I am open to supervising students who are interested in studying rural aging or intergenerational connections through either Trent’s Psychology program or Interdisciplinary Aging Studies graduate program. I was honoured to receive Trent’s Symons Award for Excellence in Teaching and a Trent Teaching Fellowship in 2023.
