Tri-Agency & General Grant Application Information Sessions 2023-24 Term
These sessions will be led by Trent’s Research staff and will provide opportunities for informal learning and discussion about broader topics of interest to researchers. Each will begin with a general overview of the topic, to be followed by questions and discussions. If participants would like to bring drafts of applications materials related to the topic under discussion, they may do so. Light refreshments will be provided by ORI, but participants are welcome to bring a lunch.

Interested in learning more about grant writing or looking to hone your grant writing skills? Join the Office of Research for Grant Writing 101, hosted by our Research Facilitators. This info session will provide insight and advice to build a strong foundation for successful grant writing. Bring your lunch and join us for a presentation followed by time for discussion.

This session will provide an overview of the NSERC Alliance Grants Programs, including Alliance International and joint funding opportunities. We will focus on the requirements of Alliance applications, describing individual elements such as project descriptions, budgets, national security risk assessment and discussing best practices and common pitfalls for each. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for questions about the program.

This session will provide an overview of the NSERC Research Tools and Instruments (RTI) Grants Program. We will focus on the requirements of RTI applications, describing evaluation criteria and proposals' elements and discussing the best practices and common pitfalls. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for questions about the program.
SSHRC Insight Grants Information Session
This session will provide an overview of the SSHRC Insight Grant (IG) program. We will focus on the requirements of IG applications, describing individual elements such as project descriptions and budgets, and discussing best practices and common pitfalls for each. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for questions about the program.
SSHRC Partnership Development Grants Information Session
This session will provide an overview of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant (PDG) program. We will focus on the requirements of PDG applications, describing individual elements such as project descriptions and budgets, and discussing best practices and common pitfalls for each. Also covered will be the requirements of partner organizations, including the contributions and letters of support that partners must provide. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for questions about the program.
