SSHRC Knowledge Synthesis Grant – Envisioning Governance Systems that Work
Knowledge Synthesis Grants (KSG) support researchers in producing knowledge synthesis reports and evidence briefs that:
- support the use of evidence in decision-making and the application of best practices; and
- assist in developing future research agendas.
The KSG will not support original research. Knowledge syntheses are comprehensive analyses of literature and other forms of knowledge on a particular question or issue. All types of knowledge synthesis approaches, tools and protocols, such as scoping reviews, systematic reviews and narrative syntheses, are encouraged under this funding opportunity. Synthesized results can include qualitative, quantitative or multimethod research.

APC Discounts for Open Access Publishing
A reminder that Trent researchers have access to article processing charge (APC) discounts through our participation in publishing agreements negotiated by the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).
Through a read-and-publish agreement negotiated by CKRN—effective from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026—Trent authors can publish open access in over 1,800 hybrid Elsevier journals at no cost, as well as receive partial APC discounts on gold journals. By leveraging the collective negotiating power of CRKN's 73 member institutions, the Trent Library is supporting the Canadian research community and ensuring that research funding is dedicated to advancing knowledge rather than covering publishing costs.
Details and instructions on accessing these benefits can be found in the Library’s Open Access Publishing Guide.
