Leadership Matters: Making the Moment Matter

People seldom think about the role of the host - until it's their turn! Yet the host, MC, or facilitator of an event plays a key leadership role. In this session, David Newland shares insights gained from 35 years of experience as an event and expedition host. Learn how holding space, and calling attention to the moment, brings out the best of the audience, presenters, and even theme!

Presenter:

David Newland is a writer, musician, and scholar, currently working on a PhD in Canadian Studies at Trent University. David's background includes photography, journalism, and broadcasting. Since 2013 he has worked as an expedition host and Zodiac driver aboard educational small-ship cruises to the High Arctic and North Atlantic with Adventure Canada.

Leadership Matters: Connecting Knowledge & Action

This virtual lecture series is hosted in partnership with Trent’s Jarislowsky Chair in Trust and Political Leadership and the Leadership & Democracy Lab, along with the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies and the Department of Political Studies.
