The Journal of Canadian Studies/ Revue d’études canadiennes Joins University of Toronto Press
University of Toronto Press, in partnership with Trent University, is pleased to announce that the Journal of Canadian Studies/ Revue d’études canadiennes (JCS/REC) has joined UTP’s Journals publishing program.
The Journal of Canadian Studies/Revue d’études canadiennes was the first Canadian Studies journal in the country. Centred at Trent University for five decades, it has been deeply committed to interdisciplinary perspectives, bilingual presentation of research, and the serious study of Canada. The mandate of the JCS/REC is twofold: it aims to publish the best scholarship about Canadian history, culture and society, whether the researcher is junior or senior, living in Canada or abroad; and second, to serve as a vehicle for disseminating solid, original research about Canada that falls between the cracks of more narrowly defined journals. In the process, it has championed and advanced the emergence and legitimacy of inter disciplinary research in Canada.
The idea for the Journal of Canadian Studies/ Revue d’études canadiennes originated with Professor T. H. B. Symons, the first president of Trent University, and chair of the Symons Commission on Canadian Studies. Since the journal’s foundation 50 years ago, Trent University has continued Professor Symons’ vision of establishing a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, accessible, quarterly source of scholarship about any aspect of Canada. As a result of Trent’s long standing publishing relationship with the journal, today JCS/REC is recognized as one of the leading publications in the field of Canadian Studies.
