All human subject research requires review and approval by Trent’s Research Ethics Board. This includes empirical research conducted with human participants for the dissertation, qualifying examination components, or any other aspect of the IDSR program. Students developing program completion timelines should factor in time required for completion of REB protocol documentation and review by the REB. If the study involves Indigenous participants or communities, the ethics must also be approved by the Indigenous ethics sub-committee of REB.
