Applications & Costs

*We are now accepting applications for the 2024/25 academic year.*

The TIG program offers a full Year Abroad Program at highly affordable prices. We welcome applications from qualified candidates. Application deadline is Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

Eligibility

The Year Abroad is designed primarily for students in the third year of honours degree majoring in International Development, Anthropology, International Studies or a related field, who have a minimum standing of B- (70%) in at least eight full-year courses. Students from outside Trent are welcome to apply.  Non-Trent students transfer to Trent as Letter- of-Permission students for the academic year.

Costs

Trent tuition fees are the same as those paid by on-campus Trent students, minus certain ancillary fees. A program fee is levied to cover operational, administrative, and non-academic staff costs and some of the costs of orientation and field trips. The program fee is $3500 (semester option) and $4000 (full year option). The costs of airfare are approximately $1,500 (Toronto-Accra return) while living costs in Ghana are well below Canadian levels.

Scholarships and Bursaries are available

Procedure

Trent students: please apply online via myTrent/Academics/Trent in Ghana Application

Students from other universities: please contact ids@trentu.ca for an application form.
