How to apply
To apply for a room in Summer residence, please complete the following application requirements:
- Submit a fully completed residence application on the Housing Services Portal along with the $50 non-refundable residence application fee (your way of guaranteeing your spot in the first-come, first-served residence room queue)
- Submit a $500 residence deposit.
The Summer 2023 Residence Application opens on March 1, 2023 (Durham GTA) and March 6, 2023 (Peterborough) at 12:00 pm EST on the Housing Services Portal. You will log into the portal using your myTrent login and password.

Peterborough Campus
Students who apply through this application will live in Residence from May 2, 2023 to August 2, 2023.
Peterborough Residence fees for Summer 2023:
Premium Single: $2,257
Daily pro-rate: $24.27
Durham GTA Campus
Students who apply through this application will live in Residence from May 2, 2023 to August 2, 2023.
Durham GTA Residence fees for Summer 2023:
Premium Single: $ 2,472
Daily pro-rate: $26.58

If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence due to medical, disability, or religious needs please complete the accessibility & unique needs in residence request form, step 4, in the application process and refer to the accessibility & unique needs in residence for additional information and to upload supporting documentation.
All applications and documentation must be uploaded by the application deadline.
Please note: If you are currently living in residence and have already submitted your documentation, you do not need to submit new documentation, but you will still need to complete step 4: Accommodation Request Form.
What residences are offered during Summer Residence?
During the Summer Residence period, students can reside at our Durham GTA residence building or the Champlain Annex at the Peterborough Campus. Students will be assigned to single room occupancy.
Please note: At the Peterborough campus, there will be 3 people per suite, but single room occupancy. All rooms at the Durham campus will be single room occupancy only.
When you’ll hear back from us.
If you have met all the requirements of the residence application, you will receive a room assignment to your MyTrent email address after your application has been processed by a Housing staff member. Room assignments take place on a rolling basis, and students will hear back from us sometime in April. Please check your email frequently for updates, and reach out to us if you have any questions.
How does it work with apartment-mates? (Peterborough Campus)
If you know someone else living in Summer Residence that you would like to live in an apartment with, you can both email residence@trentu.ca with your desired roommate’s name and student number so we can manually assign you as roommates. The deadline to submit this request is April 5 at 4:00pm EST. Your room will be assigned later that month.
Please note: This must be done prior to being assigned a room. Once your room has been assigned we will no longer be processing apartment-mate requests.
Wondering what would happen if you changed your mind about summer residence?
If you choose to withdraw from residence on or after Summer Move-In Day, you will be bound by the withdrawal processes outlined in the residence agreement.
The Summer Forfeiture Fee schedule is as follows:
- If you cancel your residence application and/or decline a room offer by April 5, 2023 at 4:00pm, you will be charged a Partial Forfeiture Fee of $250 against your Deposit, the remaining $250 credit from your Deposit will remain on your Trent student account
- If you cancel your residence application and/or decline a room offer after April 5, 2023 at 4:00pm, you will be charged a Full Forfeiture Fee of $500 against your Deposit and therefore would not receive a refund of your deposit
