ESL Fees

ESL Fees

ESL fees are outlined on your Notice of Fees due. If you don’t know how much you owe, contact international@trentu.ca.

Instructions for how to pay your fees are at: https://www.trentu.ca/studentfinances.

Fees are due three weeks before start of classes. Late payment fee charges may be applied to student accounts. Failure to pay fees will result in the withholding of official transcripts..

​All fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change.

* University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) fees are waived for domestic students only if proof of OHIP is provided.

**Continuing ESL students pay the same fees minus Orientation and Health fees (previously billed).**

Tuition: The Tuition fees listed represent the ESL Tuition plus Ancillary, Orientation and Publication fees. Please see below. 

Ancillary: Ancillary fees include college fees, student wellness (on-campus student health services, counseling, and accessibility services),  campus safety response services, Trent Nature Areas, International Scholarship Fund, transit, athletics and campus card.  

Orientation: Orientation fees are for your placement testing and orientation to the program and to the university academics, ESL publications, departmental supports and services.  

Health: Health fees cover the mandatory UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) and Extended Health Benefits (dental, physiotherapy, etc).  

  • Extended Health Benefits Fees: Billed on your first term, covers September 1st to August 31st.  
  • UHIP: September start students are billed for 12 months of coverage, from September 1st to August 31st. January, April and June-start students will be billed a pro-rated amount of $63/month for UHIP, until August 31st. 

Textbook fees are not included in the ESL Publications fee. The textbooks cost $100-$200 per level.  

Accommodation fees: billed separately. See The ESL Experience for housing options. Your payment will be a credit on your Student Account until all fees are applied. Check out the ways to pay: Payment methods. Your payment will be a credit on your Student Account until all fees are applied. 

International students are required to pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of CAD $2500 the moment they accept their offer to Trent University 

Students who have paid tuition fees for the session but who need to withdraw from the program may be eligible for a refund, provided they withdraw by the required deadline. 

A full refund less a $100 Administration Fee will be given if a student's Study Permit is refused.  The student will be required to submit proof of the refused Study Permit by the last day to arrive in each term.  

If you are thinking of withdrawing from a term, please contact the Trent-ESL Operations Manager (Glenda Fish) or Recruitment and Programs Liaison (Juan Urzua), and complete the online withdrawal form, which can be found on the MyTrent portal, under Academics/International/Withdrawal/ESL Program Withdrawal Form. 

Any requests without the required withdrawal process will only be considered once the formal withdrawal process is complete. 

 

September and January start (12-week terms) 

Withdrawals completed by the September or January Financial Deadlines will receive a full tuition refund minus the $2500 deposit & $100 administration fee. 

Withdrawals completed after the financial deadline will receive no tuition refund.  

  • Trent-ESL Orientation fees are non-refundable.  

  • UHIP fees are subject to assessment by UHIP administration.  

 

April and June start (9-week terms) 

Withdrawals completed by the first Friday of the term will receive a full tuition refund less $2500 deposit & $100 administration fee. 

Withdrawals completed after the first Friday of the term will receive no tuition refund.  

  • Trent-ESL Orientation fees are non-refundable.  

  • UHIP fees are subject to assessment by UHIP administration.
