Collegiate Leadership Competition

"Competitions and performances are high-impact learning experiences. A coach would not ask a college athlete to compete on the field without weeks or months of practice. Yet, we ask students to sit in a classroom and learn theories and terms, but rarely provide opportunities to put them into practice until they begin their first job." - Collegiate Leadership Competition

Collegiate Leadership Competition

Are you passionate about leadership and ready to take your skills to the next level? The Collegiate Leadership Competition (CLC) is your chance to grow as a leader, challenge yourself, and represent your school at a national competition, all while having a ton of fun!

What to expect for 2025-26

Applications are now OPEN and close on Sunday, November 30: APPLY HERE

Practices will begin in January and take place every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Those selected for the Trent team will participate in the competition on March 28 at Laurier Brantford.

Questions? Please contact Stephanie Muehlethaler, OC principal at smuehlethaler@trentu.ca

Why should you join?

  • Develop Leadership Skills That Set You Apart: Become a stronger leader, team player, and communicator! According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the top four qualities employers look for are leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, and CLC helps you master them all. This experience pushes you to explore your strengths, stretch your abilities, and gain skills that make a real difference in your personal and professional life.
  • Boost Your Resume and Your Future: CLC isn’t just a competition; it’s a transformational experience. You’ll gain real-world experience that helps you stand out to employers, and you can even add the program to your co-curricular record. And most importantly you will learn so much about yourself!
  • Expand Your Network: Join a community of passionate students, inspiring coaches, and industry leaders from across Ontario and Canada. The friendships, mentorship, and professional connections you make here will last long after the competition ends.
  • Learn by Doing (and Have a Blast!): This isn’t your average leadership experience. CLC is active, hands-on, and full of engaging challenges, videos, and activities that make learning exciting and memorable.
  • Represent Your School and Compete on the Big Stage: Show your school spirit as you compete in both provincial and international competitions!
  • Earn a Micro-Credential: Gain official recognition for your leadership development and add a micro-credential to your achievements as proof of your growth and success.

Fun fact: Trent University won the National Championship last year and placed fourth internationally! Read about our historic win.
