The Trent University Emergency First Response Team (TUEFRT) was founded in 1992 following a student-led initiative to enhance emergency response capabilities on the Symons campus. Recognizing the importance of providing immediate care during medical emergencies, a group of dedicated students worked with University administration to establish an on-campus first response service capable of delivering care while emergency services were on route.
Over the past three decades, TUEFRT has grown into a highly respected student-run emergency response organization. Through the commitment of its volunteers, strong support from the Trent community and continuous training, the team has expanded its services, increased its level of medical training and strengthened its role in promoting campus safety.
Throughout its history, TUEFRT has participated in and hosted both provincial and national campus emergency response conferences and competitions, earning recognition for excellence in emergency care, teamwork and leadership. Today, TUEFRT continues to build on the vision established in 1992, providing 24/7 emergency first response services during the academic year while offering students unique opportunities for leadership, professional development and hands-on emergency response experience. As the University evolves, TUEFRT remains committed to supporting the health, safety and well-being of the Trent community.
