About the Trent University Emergency First Response Team (TUEFRT)
The Trent University Emergency First Response Team (TUEFRT) is a student run volunteer emergency response organization dedicated to enhancing the health, safety, and well-being of the Trent University Community. Operating on the Symons Campus, TUEFRT provides immediate first aid and emergency medical response to those experiencing illness, injury or medical emergencies.
Available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week throughout the academic year, TUEFRT works closely with Campus Security and emergency services to ensure timely care and support when emergencies occur. Whether responding to minor injuries, serious medical incident or providing assistance until paramedics arrive, our team is committed to delivering professional, compassionate and patient-centred care.
TUEFRT members are highly trained student volunteers certified as Emergency First Responders or Emergency Medical Responders through the Canadian Red Cross. Through rigorous training, ongoing education and regular scenario-based exercises, our responders develop the skills and experience necessary to provide effective emergency care while supporting a safe campus environment.
As a recognized member of the Association of Campus Emergency Response Teams (ACERT), TUEFRT is part of a national network of campus-based emergency response organizations committed to advancing student-led emergency medical services across Canada.
What We Do
- Respond to medical emergencies and first aid calls on campus
- Provide immediate assessment, treatment and patient care
- Assist Campus Safety, Paramedic Services and other emergency responders
- Support campus events and special activities with first aid coverage
- Promote emergency preparedness and health awareness within the Trent community
- Provide valuable leadership and experiential learning opportunities for student volunteers
