How did you become interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning?

I became interested in SoTL when I worked with Maureen Glynn to develop an asynchronous online course. Our watchword was to use material that already existed, such as open education resources, online materials, and Trent University Library and Archives collections. Thinking about the best practices of online pedagogy got me interested in SoTL.

What keeps you engaged or motivates you in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning?

The impact of my research in my own classroom keeps me interested in SoTL. Honestly, hearing that my work on designing and implementing oral assignments has been helpful to colleagues also energizes me!

What projects are you currently working on or hope to work on in the near future?

I am currently working on the concept of worldbuilding as a multimodal practice for creative industries, architecture & design, and political activism. I teach a workshop course and a theory course on the subject and would love to think about pedagogy as critical worldbuilding work.
