Why Choose Social Work at Trent

The Trent Advantage

  • Benefit from more than 700 hours of hands-on, supervised field placement during the Professional Years.
  • Gain real-world experience with mental health organizations, sexual assault centres, community counselling services, shelters, and social service agencies.
  • Learn in small Professional Years classes that support meaningful discussion, collaboration, and in-depth learning.
  • Develop the vision, knowledge, and skills required for ethical and effective social work practice.
  • Learn alongside award-winning faculty and respected leaders and researchers in the field.
  • Graduate from a CASWE-accredited Bachelor of Social Work program, preparing you for success across diverse social work paths.

Trent's Bachelor of Social Work offers an interdisciplinary curriculum grounded in social justice, human rights, and cultural awareness. In the first two years, students build a broad academic foundation and explore contemporary social issues from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Students admitted to the Professional Years (Years 3 and 4) focus on integrating social work theory and practice through coursework and a minimum of 700 hours of supervised field placement.
