Water Sciences

Freshwater is essential for all life on Earth. The Trent Water Sciences degree gives students the knowledge and skills needed to respond to modern challenges contributing to water quality decline in Canada and around the world.

In this program, you will complete a series of practical and theoretical courses to build fundamental knowledge for examining the science of water and the aquatic environment from four primary subjects: biology, chemistry, geography, and environmental science.

Computer Science

Learn how to create, manipulate, and speak the language of technology, all while gaining hands-on experience applying these skills in real-world scenarios.

In Computer Science at Trent, you’ll develop a combination of knowledge and technical abilities as you explore everything from computer forensics, data mining, and web-application development, to graphics, artificial intelligence, and programming.

Take your physics and math interests to the next level, applying it to relevant technologies to become an informed, job-ready candidate in today's fast-paced digital world.

Through advanced courses in quantum physics and mechanics, you will discover the fundamentals of different computational systems and examine electricity and magnetism.

Small-group classes led by leading researchers and faculty who specialize across scientific disciplines provide a supportive and productive environment for you to explore complex challenges and make dynamic new discoveries in the field.

Cultural Studies

The only program of its kind in Canada, Cultural Studies at Trent provides a platform for you to explore both theoretical and practical paths into visual arts, media, film, theatre, and music.

In this program you are encouraged to think and do, through a wide range of courses (everything from Narrative & Performance to Game Studies) as well as opportunities to practice your skills and creativity. Study with leading experts examining topics like science fiction, the history of television, or the evolution of pop music.

Social Work

In this fully accredited program, you’ll learn first-hand how to collaborate and advocate with and for marginalized populations, developing a strong foundation of clinical, social justice and research knowledge, critical thinking, and social action.

Mathematical Physics

In this joint degree program, you will discover what makes our world go round by studying core theoretical physics frameworks and the mathematical methods that form their foundations.

In Mathematical Physics at Trent, you will gain the skills and knowledge to understand the underpinnings of physical phenomena – from the cosmos, to climate, to computing. In small, hands-on classes, you’ll practise tackling problems in subjects like quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, mathematical modelling and more.

Environmental Geoscience

With experiential learning at its core, Trent’s Environmental Geoscience degree introduces students to advanced topics in resource extraction across multiple disciplines in geology, biology, chemistry, mathematics and geography, with guidance from leading field experts.

In this program, you will receive specialized geoscience training while you develop hands-on skills in field methods, mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, and geophysics.
