Undergraduate Conferences

There are several annual conferences which bring together undergraduate students in physics.  We encourage you to learn more about them and consider attending.  Financial support is usually available through Trent’s department of Physics & Astronomy, the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA), and faculty supervisors of undergraduate research projects.

Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference

The Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC) is an annual event organized by and for Canadian physics students. It is hosted by a different university each year, usually held over an extended weekend in October (4 days). Physics students from across Canada meet at CUPC to present oral or poster contributions on various topics related to physics, to attend special invited lectures, to tour local research facilities, to meet with representatives from participating institutions that offer graduated degrees in physics, and to meet with representatives of the CAP Executive to learn more about the association and its support of physics in Canada.

The CAP, via its CAP Foundation, provides a cash donation to be distributed, as required, to students who need financial assistance to attend the conference.

CUPC is typically hosted by a different university each year in the fall. Visit the CUPC website for more information.

Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics

The annual Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CCUWiP) is a national conference for undergraduate students studying physics or related majors. The CCUWiP’s goal is to encourage undergraduate women to pursue their physics education by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, gather information about graduate school and professions in physics, and to network with other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas. It is hosted by a different university each year, usually held over a weekend in January (3 days).

Visit the CCUWiP Website for more information.

Women in Physics Canada

The annual Women in Physics Canada (WIPC) is a national conference for any person, no matter their gender, interested in physics and equity in science.  Visit the WIPC website for more information.
