Orientation Hubs
Staffed by Orientation Leaders (tie-dye shirts) and Orientation Facilitators (purple shirts), Orientation Hubs are your go-to spot to get answers, directions, and pick-up your Orientation bracelet.
Hubs will be set up outside each College building from Monday, September 7 to Friday, September 11.
Off-Campus, Mature, and Transfer Student Programming
If you’re a mature, transfer or off-campus student, explore special events and programming designed to help you meet others, find your community and settle into university life.
Off-Campus Students
Not living in residence this year? No problem! Orientation Week is your ticket to meet people, build a community, and make Trent feel like home. We highly encourage you to take part in all activities and take advantage of the additional programming designed specifically for you, including:
- A free shuttle bus will be available on September 6 and September 7 for evening programming. The bus will travel from Traill College (downtown) to Bata Library and return to Traill College.
- Off-Campus Welcome events hosted by your college (check event schedule for details).
- Not sure where to get your Orientation bracelet? Attend the Trent Welcome on September 6 and visit one of our two check-in tables. Can't make it to that event? Visit any of the Orientation Hubs around campus to pick it up.
Mature and Transfer Students
Are you beginning your studies at Trent after being away from school for a while? Mature learners are students entering Trent who are over the age of 21 and coming to post-secondary education for the first time.
While all orientation programming is open to all, there are a number of events and resources tailored for mature and transfer students to help step into life at Trent.

Do I have to register for Orientation Week?
Yes! All undergraduate students and post-graduate certificate students who will be starting at Trent in September need to register to participate in Orientation Week activities.

Can I participate in Orientation Week if I am a Mature/Transfer/Off Campus/Part-Time Student?
Yes! All new students are welcome at Orientation Week.
For mature and transfer students, there are also specific events designed to help you find relevant resources and build meaningful connections.
To support participation in the evening programming, particularly for students not living in residence, shuttle buses will run from Traill College in downtown Peterborough to Bata Library on Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7. The free bus will leave from Traill at 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. Return trips will run at 9:30 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.

How do I know what Orientation group I’m in?
Students are assigned to Orientation Week groups based on their residence/College affiliation.
You can attend the “Meet Your Leaders and Don” event at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6 to meet your group.
For off-campus students, you can meet your leaders on Sunday evening at the Trent Welcome. If you are unable to attend that event, attend your College Welcome. Orientation Hubs will also be set up daily outside each College.

Is it mandatory to participate in Orientation Week?
Yes and no.
Participation in events is not mandatory; however, we highly encourage all students to engage, as the programming during this week is full of important information and fun opportunities to meet your peers.
In order to participate in some of our late-night events, attendance at the Trent Welcome on Sunday, September 6 is required, as this event includes our Consent at Trent training.
If you are unable to attend the Trent Welcome, contact orientation@trentu.ca and the team will get you set up with a module to complete.
There may also be required events for your program or group, such as Nursing or Trent International. Check your Trent email for details.
