The City of Peterborough, the gateway to the Kawarthas, is framed by the Trent-Severn Waterway, named one of New York Times 52 places to go this year. In Peterborough you have direct access to a variety of outdoor activities and attractions. From local arts to late-night fun, you can catch live music, hit a pub, or explore a festival or event all year round.

  • Student Guide to Peterborough – Trent students are welcomed to community with open hearts and open arms - the city’s ultimate guide to Peterborough as a student is a terrific resource for new students, and parents alike.
  • The Peterborough region offers an impressive list of things that you can only experience here. From the City’s curated list of the must-do experiences to the County’s list of pre-planned trips, there is no shortage of ways to explore your new home away from home.
  • Hearing that Peterborough has a longstanding history as a hotbed for musicians is music to new student’s ears! Check out the city’s Musical Itinerary or browse the long list of music events that take place throughout the year.
  • Explore places to Eat & Drink – the volume and variety of food and drink options on the menu in Peterborough is sure to satisfy any craving, and choosing local is easy, all year round at Peterborough’s Farmers’ Markets.
  • Lansdowne Place –  Peterborough’s largest shopping centre is a popular spot for students to shop, eat, and buy groceries.
  • Downtown Peterborough – The bustling downtown scene is a hotspot for foodies and shoppers, with a blend of international flavours and one-of-a-kind local shops.
  • Peterborough Petes – Peterborough’s OHL team is the oldest continuously operating team in the league and has produced a record number of professional hockey players – catch a game anytime during the season, or during Trent night at the Petes.

Description

Whether you’re hopping on the bus, grabbing a ride share or taxi downtown or exploring the region yourself by car or by bike, navigating the city is a breeze.

  • Daily transit services are available to connect people to services and stops throughout the city. For information on routes, schedules, including accessible van services, visit Peterborough Transit.
  • GO Transit – Go Bus services are accessible to and from Peterborough from the Peterborough Bus Terminal and the Park and Ride off highway 115.
  • Parking in Peterborough – Information about permits, street parking, and municipal lots throughout the community.  
  • Cycling in and around Peterborough – Explore the area through Peterborough’s active routes from trails to bike lanes to integrated routes that allow users to access hundreds of kilometres of cycling experiences in nearby Peterborough County and along the Trans-Canada Trail.
  • Taxi and Ride Share Services - Uride and Y-Drive Ptbo are popular app-based transportation services, in addition to taxi services offered by Call-A-Cab and Capitol Taxi.

  • Peterborough Public Library – offers quiet study spaces, in-depth research resources, and fun community events.
  • Public Skating – is available at Peterborough’s new Miskin Law Community Complex and is a budget-friendly way to stay active and have fun with friends.
