Mature & Transfer Student Orientation

There are a number of programs available to new students to prepare them for the start of their academic life at Trent. While all these programs and activities are important and meaningful, some of the events may not be pertinent to students who are mature or transferring from another post-secondary institution.

While all orientation programming is open to any new Trent University students, there are several events that are specifically targeted to groups of students. On this page, you will find information about current orientation programs and how a mature/transfer student can be involved, along with a link to specific programming geared to engage and prepare mature students for the start of their academic life at Trent.

Questions about a particular event/program or starting at Trent? Be sure to get in touch. You can contact us at orientation@trentu.ca.

Mature Student Orientation Programming

Are you beginning your studies at Trent after being away from school for a while? Mature learners are students entering Trent who are over the age of 21 and coming to post-secondary education for the first time. Mature students are encouraged to attend pre-arrival workshops prior to Orientation Week and social events during Orientation Week to connect with other mature students.

Transfer Student Orientation

Peterborough Transfer Student Orientation is open to students who are coming to Trent (Peterborough campus) for the first time from another university or college. Join Academic Advising and Academic Skills Instructors at Transfer Student Orientation where you will have an opportunity to hear answers to frequently asked questions about course planning and registration (especially considering your transfer credits), learn about academic tips and tricks to help manage the changing workload from College to University, and have a chance to ask questions about starting at Trent.
