Leadership Matters: Leadership Self-Efficacy and Organizational Responsibility for Women's Advancement

The "confidence gap" is often framed as an internal limitation, something women must overcome through mindset shifts, skill-building, or personal development. This framing overlooks the organizational and systemic conditions that shape leadership confidence and advancement. Drawing on leadership self-efficacy research and applied coaching practice, this webinar reframes the confidence gap as both an internal belief process and a rational response to organizational systems that have historically constrained women's leadership opportunities. Women's confidence in their ability to lead is frequently intertwined with their confidence - often rightly tempered - in whether their organization is genuinely committed to removing structural and cultural barriers to advancement. This session explores how leadership self-efficacy is shaped by experience, feedback, visibility, and organizational signals of inclusion and support. Participants will consider the implications of this dual lens for leadership development, coaching, and organizational practice, and reflect on how responsibility for leadership confidence and women's advancement in leadership must be shared between individuals and the systems in which they lead.

Presenter:

Lori Kranenburg is a leadership and executive coach and former law enforcement leader with over two decades of experience in high-pressure, male-dominated organizations. She is currently completing graduate research in executive and organizational coaching, with a focus on leadership self-efficacy and women's advancement in leadership. Her work bridges leadership research and practice, drawing on her professional experience and applied coaching to explore both individual leadership self-efficacy and organizational responsibility for removing barriers to women's leadership advancement.
