Permanent Railing Installation on Bata Catwalk Sept. 16–18

Detours in place around catwalk and the steps below up to podium to ensure safety

Permanent railings are being installed on the Bata catwalk from Tuesday, September 16 to Thursday, September 18 resulting in short-term detours while this final phase of work is completed. Work will begin at the catwalk entry to Bata Library, proceed along the east side of the catwalk (facing the river), then continue on the west side (facing LEC).

Access & Detours
For safety, the catwalk will be closed to all pedestrian traffic during this time. The area beneath the work zone will also be isolated, with fencing in place at either end of the catwalk to ensure the safety of the community traveling near the site. The new Bata Library door out to the catwalk will remain locked, with emergency egress maintained only.

Access to Bata Library will be available through the first- and second-floor entrances as usual. The steps leading up to the Bata podium from the bus loop will be closed, with detours and signage directing pedestrians around the construction. An accessible route will be available through the Champlain Bookstore entrance.

During installation, community members can expect noise from drilling and minor dust in the area. Please be mindful of posted signage, follow the direction of on-site staff, and allow extra time for travel around the site.

For information about this project, please email Facilities Management, pmo@trentu.ca.
