Real-World Experience Invaluable for Trent Business Student
Matthew Clark gets opportunity to conduct data analysis at one of Peterborough’s largest and most iconic manufacturers
A placement at PepsiCo was an invaluable learning experience for a Trent University Business Administration student as he gained real-world experience in one of Peterborough’s largest manufacturers.
Matthew Clark, a third-year student, served as a management support coordinator and his duties included conducting data analysis to identify potential issues with the manufacturing process.
While he quickly learned that he had a lot to learn, he says Trent offered “stellar” academic support.
“I am pleased with the number of paths you can take to find that support,” Mr. Clark says.
The Orillia native added that experiential learning gives you great insight into the workforce.
“That experience gave me the opportunity to ask questions that I normally wouldn’t have thought of asking within a strictly classroom learning environment,” he says.
Specializing in E-Commerce, Mr. Clark came to Trent having grown up working with his father in the family business. During his first year, he studied as many disciplines as he could to get a feel for different programs.
“The broad skill set that I’ve gained through my experiences at Trent has made me adaptable,” he says.
“I feel I can focus on what I would like to do in the future rather than only what I am capable of. Your university experience is your own. You just need to figure out what you want to do with it.”
