About the Famous 5 Maquette

This exhibit is a miniature of the Women are Persons! monuments in Calgary and Ottawa, commemorating five Canadian feminists whose efforts advanced the rights of women to vote, run for elected office, and serve as Senators.

The Tradition of Pink Teas

The Famous 5 used “Pink Teas” as a creative form of resistance. Disguised as social gatherings, these teas allowed them to organize for women’s suffrage without interference from men who wanted to disrupt their work.
