Most academic and administrative operations at Trent University in Peterborough and Durham GTA close for winter holiday break at the end of business on Thursday, December 23, 2021 and reopen Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Please call ahead as individual office hours may vary.

Classes resume at both campuses Monday, January 10, 2022 for the winter semester.

Student Residences

The Housing Office closes Friday, December 24, 2021 and reopens on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 9 a.m.

Peterborough – Undergraduate residences close at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Only students who have registered and received confirmation of their acceptance to the winter break program will be permitted in residence during the break period. Graduate residences at Traill College remain open during the winter break. The Housing Services office reopens on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 9 a.m.

Durham residence will remain open during the holidays and into 2022. The Housing Service Centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing on Thursday, December 23. Only students who have registered and received confirmation of their acceptance to the winter break will be permitted in residence during the break period. The Housing Services office reopens on Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at 9 a.m.

Risk Management and Security Operations

Campus Security will remain on duty 24/7 throughout the holiday season. All building exterior doors, labs and classrooms will remain locked. Access cards will continue to allow entry to non-residence buildings. You are required to inform Campus Security (see contact info below) if you must access a campus building during the break. Persons without access cards and/or keys to non-residence buildings will require prior written approval from their department head that clearly specifies time(s) and location(s) of required access. Please contact Campus Security to gain access under these circumstances.

Library Services

Bata Library will close for the holiday break at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 23. The library will reopen from January 5 – 7 for reduced hours between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and will then be closed on January 8 and 9. Access to online library collections, research support, information services, copyright and reading list support will be available remotely.

Starting Monday, January 10, Bata Library will reopen to modified hours. Please check the Library website for full details.

Durham Library & Learning Centre (DLLC) will close on Thursday December 23 at 5:00 p.m. Access to online library collections will be available remotely over the holiday break. Research support, information services, physical collections, copyright and reading list support will be available when we re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. • Catharine Parr Traill College – closes Thursday, December 23 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.
• Champlain College – closes Thursday, December 23 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.
• Lady Eaton College – closes Thursday, December 23 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.
• Otonabee College – closes Thursday, December 23 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.
• Peter Gzowski College – closes Thursday, December 23 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.

Other University and Student Services

• Athletics Centre – closes between December 24 - January 2. The AC will be open after then with adjusted hours and will resume regular hours beginning January 10. Check the Athletics Centre website for adjusted holiday hours.

• Academic Advising – closes Wednesday, December 22 at 4 p.m.; re-opens Thursday, January 6, at 9 a.m. Please check the website for remote appointments and advisor availability.
• Academic Skills –  closes Wednesday, December 22 at 4p.m. and re-opens Thursday, January 6. Please refer to the website for details about booking appointments.
• Campus Card Office – closes Thursday, December 23 at 12 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 5 at 9 a.m.

• Campus Tours – closes Thursday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. and will remain closed for the duration of the University holiday closure. • The Student Centre, including Starbucks, will be open for regular hours starting Monday, January 10.
