Trent Centre for Communicating Conservation Receives Board of Governors Approval
Newly established research centre will bolster efforts to resolve environmental issues; approval of audited pension statements among other Board business

The Trent University Board of Governors held its second regular meeting of the academic year on December 4, 2020.
Trent Centre for Communicating Conservation Established
Trent University’s Board of Governors approved the establishment of the Trent Centre for Communicating Conservation. Originally launched as a research group in January 2019, the membership has grown to almost 100 Trent University faculty, students, community partners and staff. Building on this enthusiastic engagement, the group has been successfully reclassified as a research centre.
The Trent Centre for Communicating Conservation will be led by a director, assisted by a management committee, and supported by a wealth of expertise in environmental matters. The goal of the Centre will be convey science research and findings to the public while helping to resolve environmental issues and advance conservation issues in society.
2019/20 Audited Pension Financial Statements
The Board also approved the 2019/20 financial statements of the Contributory Pension Plan for Employees represented by OPSEU Local 365, Exempt Administrative Staff and TUFA Employees of Trent University, based on external audits. In the opinion of the auditors, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of each of the Contributory Pension Plans and Supplemental Retirement Arrangement as at June 30, 2020, and the changes in net assets available for benefits, and the changes in the pension obligation for the year then ended in accordance with the Canadian accounting standards for pension plans.

The Board will hold its next regular meeting on February, 4, 2021.
