Alumni engagement ensures Trent’s unique collegiate environment remains at the heart of the University for generations to come

The Campaign for Trent Colleges is gaining momentum as four alumni have banded together to show their spirit and support their colleges.

Just three short weeks after the launch of the Campaign, Alan Harman '80, Chris Fountain '94, Greg Piasetzki '76, and Martha Wilder '74 have stepped forward as college champions, making significant investments toward their respective colleges to ensure current and future students have the same chance to nurture their own cherished college memories – a strong part of the Trent experience.

These champions are showing their college spirit by investing their time to engage with fellow alumni to enhance the college endowments. Alan Harman, joins Gzowski College; Chris Fountain, Lady Eaton College; Greg Piasetzki, Traill College; and Martha Wilder, Otonabee College.

To date, over $1 million has been raised towards the Campaign’s $5 million goal thanks to the generosity of the champions, as well as alumni, staff, faculty, and University contributions. This momentum will help invigorate the revitalization of Trent’s college system. With The Campaign for Trent Colleges, Trent plans to deepen its college roots and enrich experiences for students and faculty.

“Looking back at my time at Trent, I can see how important college life was for my growth as a student – and as an individual,” reflects Alan Harman ’80. “I am grateful for what my community taught me, and I want to make sure that future Trent students get the same opportunities from their colleges. Together we can revitalize the colleges and extend to future students the vibrant scholarly community that I found unforgettable during my time at Trent.”

Spurred on by the spirit of the Campaign, Dr. Tom Miller '82 and Barbara Chisholm have made a meaningful $100,000 gift to support student clubs at the former Peter Robinson College through the Richard Sadleir Peter Robinson College Fund.

Trent University’s colleges have been crucial to the student experience for more than 50 years. They build local communities that create intellectually and socially meaningful experiences for students. The Campaign for Trent Colleges will ensure this unique collegiate environment remains at the heart of the University for generations to come. Each of Trent’s five colleges—Champlain, Gzowski, Lady Eaton, Otonabee, and Traill—aims to enhance endowments by raising $1 million. These funds will provide students with unique learning opportunities outside of the classroom, enhance the diversity of our campus community, and help students form life-long friendships.

For an in-depth look at where these funds will make a difference for Trent students today and in years to come, visit trentu.ca/CollegeCampaign.
