More than 100 Trent students, faculty, staff as well as Peterborough and First Nations community members were in attendance for the official launch of Trent faculty member and Elder Gidigaa Migizi’s (Doug Williams’) new book, Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg: This is Our Territory, a personal narrative and history of Curve Lake First Nation.

Held in the Gathering Space at Gzowski College, the evening consisted of book readings by Professor Williams as well as a great number of book signings for guests.

Leanne Simpson, a local Indigenous leader and editor of Prof. Williams’ book, commented that we are in a very special and unique time with so many people interested in reading our stories and these stories are adding to the important content for future generations to sustain their heritage and culture.
