Trent Excalibur Rowers Top Podium at OUA Championships

Trent University’s Excalibur rowing team finish OUA season strong in St. Catharines

Bronze - Lightweight Men’s Four – Matthew Dupuis, Jordan Hamilton, Dayton Kelly, Wesley Penny, cox Hailey Guertin

It was a fantastic weekend on the water as the Trent University Excalibur rowers stood tall on the podium and walked around Henley Island with some new hard-fought hardware at the Ontario University Athletic (OUA) Championships in St. Catharines.

In total, Trent Excalibur Rowing brought home eight medals from novice to varsity, and received top honours for OUA Novice Coach of the Year.

For some rowers, it was a great way to cap off their 2017 campaign, while for others, the weekend allowed them one last warm-up before the Canadian University Championships November 4 and 5 in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Below are the OUA medal details:  

Gold -  Novice Women’s Four – Nicole Turner, Kaitlynn Edge, Jocelyn Hrynyk, Jess Kuhn, cox Sarah Drysdale                                                                                                                               

Gold- Novice Women’s Eight – Aly Wychopen, Anabelle Bouthillier, Reilly Kunc, Joceline Lucas, Samantha Portsmith, Ruth Wallace, Brianna Sweeting, Bayleigh Hooper, cox Emily Maidment

Silver - Heavyweight Women’s Four – Alexandra Armstrong, Elisabeth Trickey, Jessica Lenters, Hannah Curtis, cox Sam Geller     

Silver - Heavyweight Men’s Double – Daniel Bullock and Trevor Jones

Silver - Lightweight Men’s Double – Dayton Kelly and Wesley Penney

Silver - Junior Varsity Double – Sean Matiyek and Shane Willis

Bronze - Heavyweight Women’s Eight – Hannah Curtis, Jessica Lenters, Paige Burns, Lauren Temperly, Emma Scheel, Megan Benn, Elisabeth Trickey, Alexandra Armstrong, cox Sam Geller

Bronze - Lightweight Men’s Four – Matthew Dupuis, Jordan Hamilton, Dayton Kelly, Wesley Penny, cox Hailey Guertin   

OUA Novice Women’s Coaches of the Year - Richard Love and Dylan Wing
