Business students

This story was first posted as a contributed piece in the Oshawa This Week newspaper

Business programs are typically one of the most popular degree choices for university students in Canada. With transferable skills and professional core programming, a business degree offers a wide variety of future career options. At Trent University Durham - GTA, we’ve taken the typical Business degree to the next level. Here, we say there are five ways students can do Business at Trent. Actually, there’s more. A lot more. In fact, the possibilities are endless.

Trent’s unique Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree is one of the most distinctive in Canada. As is the case with most of our degree programs at Trent, we believe that combining your passions and tailoring your degree to suit your personality, and your career goals, is imperative. Our B.B.A. is no exception.

The program focuses on the business fundamentals of economics, management and entrepreneurship, and includes a full slate of accounting courses that prepare students for the competitive business world. Trent has also broadened the program to ensure that each student is able to explore their interests fully. Trent’s B.B.A. degree can be combined with virtually any other Arts or Science degree, from English to Media Studies, Anthropology to Psychology. Students who choose to combine their degrees into a joint major most certainly have an edge – merging a solid understanding of good business practices with theoretical perspectives, all the while strengthening their soft skills.

If a joint major isn’t your thing, Trent’s School of Business also offers specialization programming in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Consumer Culture, and Human Resource Management. Students can delve deeper into these core business principles, to become experts in the field.

As an added bonus, the School of Business is home to Trent’s internship program, giving students hands-on, real-world experience in the workforce.

It’s no wonder that applications to Trent’s School of Business are rising and the program is more popular than ever before. Our program is generating innovative leaders who are fully equipped to work in a changing social environment– who think critically and passionately about the world around them.
