Graduate Positions
Position: Ph.D./M.Sc. research opportunities in Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry are available. Projects will focus on synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry, as well as catalysis and electrochemistry. More specifically, we are interested in using sustainable resources to develop novel catalytic systems for renewable energy applications and industrially relevant chemical transformations. For many of our projects, we take inspiration from biological systems to help guide catalyst design. Additionally, we use theoretical calculations and density functional theory to inform experimental results.

Position: Ph.D./M.Sc. positions in the study of synthetic organic/organometallic chemistry for the preparation of organic materials. Projects involve the development of synthetic methodology using transition metal catalysis, mechanistic investigations, and the characterization of organic molecules. Become best friends with an NMR spectrometer and all its glory.

Position: Openings for M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates in Chemical Physics and Chemistry. This is not your usual Brita filter. We make and understand carbon adsorbents from waste materials to clean up waste and store energy.
Contact: Prof. Andrew Vreugdenhil
Position: M.Sc. and Ph.D. positions are available to investigate solid-state quantum emitters as next-generation quantum-enabled nanosensors, combining exceptional sensitivity with nanoscale spatial resolution. Projects span experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches, with opportunities to tailor the research direction to your background, skills, and scientific interests.
Contact: Prof. Carlo Bradac
Position: M.Sc./Ph.D. position in theoretical condensed matter physics studying correlated quantum systems. Current projects focus on non-equilibrium states of matter stabilized by disorder, quantifying localization in systems with multiple degrees of freedom per site, and connecting with experimentally accessible measures.
Contact: Prof. Rachel Wortis
Position: Ph.D./M.Sc. positions in the study of microwave resonances in water-based objects (i.e. fruit in the microwave). Both experimental and simulation/theory projects await intrepid and curious students. Come work on something that will equally excite your niece and grandfather! Generous top-ups for scholarship-funded students.
Contact: Prof. Aaron Slepkov
Position: Ph.D./M.Sc. positions in nonlinear optical microscopy and biophotonics. Imagine showing your grandparents a cool microscopy image as an answer to their question of what you’re studying! Come learn data analysis, instrumentation, ultrafast laser photonics, spectroscopy & microscopy. Generous top-ups for scholarship-funded students.
