David de Launay '98

David de Launay headshotDavid de Launay had the good fortune to serve the people of Ontario for over 30 years in senior government roles including as Deputy Minister of Northern Development and Mines, and of Aboriginal Affairs. Highlights include his dedicated bridge-building with Indigenous Communities and negotiations for protective agreements of the Great Lakes.

While at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mr. de Launay was engaged in building partnerships with Trent University and Sir Sandford Fleming College, where he worked for 19 months as Director of Strategic Alliances and subsequently chaired their Lindsay campus capital campaign.

Now, as the Secretary-Treasurer of Ma'mo'weh Wii'soo'ka'tiwin Foundation, he directly supports Treaty 3 First Nations in Northwest Ontario and is a Board Director of LOFT Community Services. He is a past Board member of the Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation, Algoma University, LOFT Community Services, and Hugh's Room in Toronto.

A Trent University Alumnus, David served on the Finance & Property Committee as an external committee member since 2022 and has been appointed as Chair of the Committee for a one-year term effective July 1, 2025. Mr. de Launay was appointed to the Trent University Board of Governors for a three-year term effective July 1, 2023.
