New International Student Checklist
Prepare for your Arrival in Canada at Trent

Follow our step-by-step guide to prepare for your arrival in Canada and ensure you have everything you need to begin studying at Trent University.

Step 1     Activate your myTrent account.
Step 2

Accept your offer of admission by emailing admissions@trentu.ca. 

Include the name of your program, student number, and full name.

Step 3

Make a payment: 

  • Mandatory: pay $2,500 CAD tuition deposit
  • Optional: pre-pay first year tuition
Step 4

Prepare and submit your study permit application as soon as you obtain your Letter of Acceptance and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Trent. 

Note: Graduate-level students are PAL-exempt.

Step 5

Plan your housing: 

  • On-campus
  • Off-campus
Step 6Register for courses.
Step 7Monitor your TrentU email for invitations to new student orientation and communications.
Step 8Prepare the following documents as required by IRCC which you will present at the airport.
Step 9Attend the mandatory Pre-Arrival Virtual Orientation session.
Step 10        

Review financial deadlines and pay your fees: 

  • Undergraduate and Certificate
  • Graduate
Step 11                  Plan your transit from the airport to your pre-arranged housing in Peterborough or Durham.
Step 12          Arrive at Trent and attend in-person orientation. We look forward to meeting you!
