Frequently Asked Questions:

If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence.

If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence due to medical, disability, or religious needs please complete the accessibility & unique needs in residence request form, step 4, in the application process and refer to the accessibility & unique needs in residence for additional information and to upload supporting documentation.

All applications and documentation must be uploaded by the application deadline.

Please note: If you are currently living in residence and have already submitted your documentation, you do not need to submit new documentation, but you will still need to identify that you have an accessibility or unique need via the residence application.

What residences are offered during Summer Residence?

During the Summer Residence period, students can reside at our Durham GTA residence building or the Champlain Annex at the Peterborough Campus. Students will be assigned to single room occupancy.

Please note: At the Peterborough campus, there will be 3 single rooms per suite. All rooms at the Durham campus will be single-room occupancy only. Rooms that are typically double rooms during the academic year are used as single rooms during the summer term. Additional furniture is not removed and will still be present in the space for the summer term.

What options are available for food on campus during the summer term?

During the Summer (May to August), Trent University dining halls are closed. While there may be some services available with limited hours, students will be expected to prepare their own food for the summer term. There is no dining plan available for summer residence students, but all summer residence locations offer full kitchens for student use. These are available in the common rooms at our Durham campus and in each three-bedroom suite at our Peterborough Campus.

When you’ll hear back from us.

If you have met all the requirements of the residence application, you will receive a room assignment to your MyTrent email address after your application has been processed by a Housing staff member. Room assignments take place on a rolling basis, starting on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Please check your email frequently for updates, and reach out to us if you have any questions.

How does it work with apartment-mates? (Peterborough Campus)

If you know someone else living in Summer Residence at our Peterborough Campus that you would like to live in an apartment with, you can request to live withe each other via the roommate group feature of the summer residence application (available to students after the $500 deposit has been paid). The deadline to create a roommate group will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 4:00 pm ET. This must be done prior to being assigned a room. Once your room has been assigned, we will no longer be processing apartment-mate requests.

Roommate requests are not accepted for our Durham campus as all rooms will be single occupancy.

Wondering what would happen if you changed your mind about summer residence?

If you choose to withdraw from residence on or after Summer Move-In Day, you will be bound by the withdrawal processes outlined in the residence agreement that will be made available to you via the Student Housing Portal before confirming your room booking.

Students who withdraw prior to moving in who have paid the $500 deposit acknowledge the following refund schedule:

Summer 2025 residence is not guaranteed and thus students can cancel and receive a full refund of their deposit prior to receiving a room booking. Once a room booking is received, the $500 deposit is non-refundable.
