Applications for the Winter 2023 Term are now closed.
You don't have to wait to receive an offer of admission in order to apply for a room in residence. In fact, you're encouraged to apply right away! Students applying for winter-term residence will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis - so apply today!
How to apply
To apply for a room in residence, please complete the following application requirements:
- Submit a fully completed residence application on the Housing Portal along with the $50 non-refundable residence application fee (your way of securing your spot in the first-come, first-served residence room queue)
- Submit a $500 residence deposit.
The Winter 2023 Residence Application will be accessible on the Housing Portal. You will log into the portal using your myTrent login and password.
To access the housing portal:
- Log in to myTrent
- Navigate to the "Support Tab" at the top of the page
- Select "Housing Winter 2023 Application" under the "Student Housing" heading
If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence.
If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence due to medical, disability or religious needs, please complete the Accessibility & Unique Needs in Residence request form in the application process, and refer to the Accessibility & Unique Needs in Residence request website for additional information.
The Accessibility & Unique Needs in Residence Form must be completed and all supporting documentation must be uploaded by Wednesday, November 30th at 4:00 pm EST.

Please note: Winter Term January 2023 residence is not guaranteed.
Room assignments will be given on a first-come, first-served room queue. When you receive a room offer you will be emailed with a date by which you must accept this offer.. This offer will then be available to you to accept with the Housing Portal.

When is move-in for the Winter 2023 term?
After the holiday break, our residences open on Saturday, January 7th, 2023. This is the earliest date that Winter residence students will be able to move in.
Wondering what would happen if you changed your mind about living in residence?
Students are encouraged to await the publishing of their class schedules to determine if residence fits their needs for the Winter 2023 term, prior to cancelling their residence application.

What if I decide to defer to the 2023-24 Academic Year?
If you defer to the next academic year, please cancel your application using the guide above. Students who defer from one academic year to the next must reapply when the next year's application opens. The release date for the 2023-24 residence application has not yet been determined.
By paying the $500 deposit you acknowledge the following refund schedule.
If you cancel or decline our offer by November 30, 2022, at 4:00pm, you will receive a partial deposit refund of $250.
If you cancel or decline our offer after November 30, 2022, at 4:00pm, you will forfeit your $500 deposit.
If you choose to withdraw from residence on or after Move-In Day, you will be bound by the withdrawal processes stated in our Residence Agreement.
Should students wish to depart residence once they have arrived, we encourage them to reach out to Student Housing by email at residence@trentu.ca for further information on the withdrawal process or reference the withdrawal process outlined in the Residence Agreement that will be available upon allocation of their residence room in late November.

To apply, your next steps are:
- Open a “Winter 2023” application (either Peterborough or Durham)
- Once you get to “Step 2: Application Fee” DO NOT PAY
- Email residence@trentu.ca so we can apply your application fee and deposit to your new application.
- The deposit fee will be waived only if you had asked Student Housing to hold your deposit to the winter term or it has not been used or refunded at this time.
