Having worked in municipal government throughout his
career, Dr. Garry Cubitt recently retired as the Chief
Administrative Officer for the Regional Municipality of
Durham. He has extensive experience in organizational
development, issues management, budget development,
finance and investment for complex public sector
organizations. Dr. Cubitt has also previously held instructor
positions at the University of Toronto, York University and
Durham College. Dr. Cubitt was on the founding Board of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and was the Chair of the Board when it welcomed its first students a little over 10 years ago. He has served on many other community organizations including Durham College, Ontario Municipal Social Services Association, United Way Campaign Region of Durham. Dr. Cubitt holds a B. Sc. (Hons) in Psychology from Trent University, an MSW from University of Toronto and an Honorary LL.D. from UOIT. His wife, Vicki, and daughter Catherine are also Trent alumni. He has been widely recognized by a number of organizations and was awarded the William G. Davis Award for his contributions to Ontario community colleges and a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. In 2017, Dr. Cubitt was presented with the prestigious Trent University Alumni of Distinction award. Having served on the Trent University Board of Governors since 2015, Dr. Cubitt began an additional 1-year reappointment to the Board on July 1, 2020
