Sue Graham Parker retired from Scotiabank on July 1, 2015 after a 36 year career. Her final position with the Bank was Executive Vice President, Global Human Resources, in which she was responsible for HR policies and practices for over 83,000 employees in more than 55 countries around the world. Prior to that, Mrs. Graham Parker held many diverse roles at Scotiabank, including Managing Director and Head, Scotia Private Client Group; Senior Vice President, Canadian Banking - Ontario Region; and Senior Vice President of Public, Corporate and Government Affairs where she oversaw all of Scotiabank’s Employee and Media Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Relations and the Strategy Process for the CEO.
Sue earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Trent University. She also attended the Ivey School of Business Executive Program at the University of Western Ontario, the Advanced Human Resources Executive Program at the Michigan Ross School of Business and Advanced Strategy at the Columbia Graduate School of Business.
Mrs. Graham Parker was a founding member of Scotiabank’s Advancement of Women Steering Committee which resulted in the Bank receiving the coveted Catalyst Award. In 2012, Sue was proud to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her championship of women in business globally and her advocacy for education in Ontario. In recognition of 5 years of service to Trent University, Sue was presented with the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards for her hard work and dedication to the university community.
She is a former Director on the Board of Wellspring, a community-based organization supporting individuals and families living with cancer. In addition, she sat on the judging panel for 10 years for the Premier’s Awards for Colleges, Ontario. Sue was also an inaugural member on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Financial Services Alliance and a participant in Toronto’s United Way Major Giving Cabinet. Along with her husband, Jim, she has been actively involved with the United Way and Plan Canada for over 30 years.
Mrs. Graham Parker has been a Governor of Trent University since July 1, 2011 and is currently Vice-Chair of the Board for the 2017-18 term, Chair of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee.
