Having worked in the Ontario Public Sector for over 24 years, Saäd Rafi brings knowledge of governance, financial administration, change management and transformation and risk management to the Trent University Board of Governors.
Mr. Rafi was also the National Government and Public Services leader at a Global Consulting firm . Previous to this position he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan Administrative Corporation (ORPPAC) where he was responsible for starting up Ontario’s attempt at a provincial pension plan.
Other former positions include: Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee; Deputy Minister of Health and Long Term Care; Deputy Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Deputy Minister of Transportation; and the Deputy Minister of Community Safety.
Mr. Rafi graduated from Carleton University in 1983 with a B.A. in Law and then went on to earn a M.A. in Public Administration in 1988. Mr. Rafi also is a member of the Board of Governors for the Hospital for Sick Children, a Board Member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, is on the Board of Directors for Ellis Don and a Board member of Baycrest Seniors Care.
Mr. Rafi’s second three-year term on the Trent University Board of Governors began on July 1, 2020 and he is continuing in his role as Vice-Chair of the Board for the 2022-23 term.
