ENLS Graduate Student Conference March 7, 2026

Register for our 2nd Annual EnLS Graduate Student Conference. This free, one-day, student led event will highlight the innovative research taking place in the EnLS Graduate Program.  This conference is open to students and faculty.  Registration closes January 23, 2026

The Environmental & Life Sciences Graduate Program (ENLS) is an interdisciplinary program that has attracted world-class faculty and students to Trent University since 1976. The program allows students to work alongside globally recognized experts and address crucial environmental, conservation and health issues with far reaching impacts. 

The Environmental & Life Sciences Graduate Program offers master's and doctoral thesis-based research degrees.  Students are supervised by faculty members from the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, School of the Environment and many others at Trent University as well as adjunct faculty from provincial and federal government agencies, nongovernmental organizations and industry. Our program has 160-190 students enrolled and annually accepts an average of 50 students out of approximately 300 applications. 

The ENLS Graduate Program has four fields of study:

  1. Earth Sciences, Natural Resources, and Agriculture
  2. Ecosystem Biogeochemistry and Trace Contaminants
  3. Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation
  4. Genes, Cells, and Physiological Systems

Students in the Environmental and Life Sciences Graduate Program have access to world-class facilities to conduct their research. The program includes 4 different fields of study offering a Master of Science as well as a Doctor of Philosophy.
